Elite Boats Demonstration Victoria

  • 10 Jun 2017
  • 8:30 AM - 8:30 PM
  • Victoria Rowing Club

    SATURDAY, JUNE 10, 2017 @ 8:30am until 3pm Elk Lake Boathouse
On June 8th, Dominique Preney (Nelson Rowing Club) and Mathieu Bonnier (Liteboat founder / CEO - France) will be rowing a LiteBoat 2x from Port Townsend to Victoria as part of the first leg of the Race to Alaska. They will bring that boat plus a mix of other LiteBoats to Elk Lake on June 10th for anyone interested to try.
Besides trying out the boats, it is a unique opportunity to chat with Mathieu Bonnier about his boats and his adventures. Mathieu has rowed the Transatlantic solo 2009 (Senegal>Guyane), the Northwest Passage solo 2010, a North Atlantic Solo Attempt (USA> France) 2012, and the Race To Alaska row/sail (Port-Townsend – Ketchikan) 2016. Dominique rowed for France with lightweight team 1976 to 1979.
Come out to Elk Lake and hope for bad weather so that you can appreciate how great these boats are in difficult conditions.

Demonstration Day of Elite Boats in Victoria

SSCRC Rowers,

Dominique Preney, Lite Boat dealer in Nelson and seller of SSCRC's new double which will be delivered to Jericho after she rows Port Townsend-Victoria and is showed in Victoria after the race, asking when & where will the post-race Lite Boat Demonstration take place in Victoria. I also wished him well on the race across the Juan de Fuca rowing the double with the owner of Lite Boat, Mathieu Bonnier.

We have the opportunity to stay in Victoria with a fellow Coastal and general all round Rowing Enthusiast.

The best time would be to come Saturday and leave Sunday. The dinner with Mathieu Bonnier is Saturday night, so you want to be here for that. A good opportunity to talk to him. Maybe we can all learn about the coastal.rowing camp he ran in St Tropez. Might be a great idea for Salish Seas to consider. Colin and Julie Angus will drop by that evening as well.  Also the race to Alaska boats all depart from the Inner Harbour on Sunday at noon. Well worth seeing!

We will organize carpools when all the numbers are in.  But We need to let Victoria know who is interested in attending?
